RECORDING INFORMATION

The Clerk and Recorder's office records any document that is authorized or required by statute or court order to be recorded.   Any documents presented for recording must meet the requirements of Montana statute.

Important Notice

The Realty Transfer Certificate (RTC) has been revised and is vital in determining the current ownership of water rights.   All Deeds recorded in Flathead County must be accompanied by the new properly executed RTC.   Currently, the new form is available only at the following link on the Department of Revenue website.

If you are wanting to search Flathead County documents that were recorded before 1984, you will find them as book and pages at our Document Archives site. Click on the link to subscribe and search.

Flathead County Public Information Request Policy

Any request for public information must be made in writing by the Clerk and Recorder Public Information Request .  The form must be printed and must be accompanied by the required funds. If you have any questions, please contact our office at one of the numbers provided.
