learn more about our county
Now that I work for Flathead County, my friends want to tell me all about potholes, building violations, and dogs off-leash on city sidewalks. I'm still learning where the borders are between "city" and "county."
I am absolutely fascinated by the sheer size of Flathead County: 5,256 square miles, almost 170 of which is water, and 94 percent of the land is national or state forests, wilderness, agricultural, or corporate timber land. In other words, only 6 percent of the county is available for development. You can learn more too; just click on About Flathead County above.
County Commissioner Brad Abell responds to a question he often receives; his answer might surprise you.
