Flathead County Reclassification of Noxious Weeds

WHEREAS, the combined Flathead County Weeds-Parks Board of Flathead County, Montana, held a public hearing on the 10th day of December 2024, concerning a proposal to change the County Noxious Weed classification from Priority 3 regulated plants to Priority 2A Noxious Weed for the following plants:

Absinth Wormwood (Artemisia Absinthium), Noble Yarrow (Achillea Nobilis), and Kochia (Kochia Scoparia).

WHEREAS, public notice of intent and public hearing was posted pursuant to Section 7-22-2101(9)(a)(ii), M.C.A., on November 4, 2024;

WHEREAS, the combined Flathead County Weeds-Parks Board has determined that the above-stated plants should be reclassified from Priority 3 Regulated Plants to Priority 2A Noxious Weeds in accordance with the Flathead County Weed Management Plan; and

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the combined Flathead County Weeds-Parks Board of Flathead County, Montana, hereby declares the following plants be classified as Flathead County Priority 2A Noxious Weeds:

Absinth Wormwood (Artemisia Absinthium), Noble Yarrow (Achillea Nobilis), and Kochia (Kochia Scoparia).

Plant Identification

In-office Identification – Anyone is welcome to bring a plant sample into our office for identification. Please bring in a full-plant sample that includes roots, stem, leaves, and flowers. In addition, you can bring in good-quality photos.

MSU Schutter Diagnostic Lab – If a plant cannot be identified in our office by our available staff we do have the ability to submit your sample to MSU for identification by mail at no cost to you. In addition, anyone can submit a plant sample on their own. Check out this video.

Pick up between 8:30am and 9:00am
Return between 4:00pm and 4:30pm

$75 Weekend Rental

Pick up Friday between 8:30am and 9:00am
Return Monday (Tuesday if Monday is a holiday) between 8:00am and 8:15am
