Indigent Burial

A completed application must be received at the Commissioners' Office prior to burial or cremation and must meet indigent criteria. 

The deceased must be a resident of Flathead County.

Please contact the Commissioners' Office (phone: 758-5503) or contact the funeral home for an indigent burial application. When submitting an application you must also submit the statement cost from the funeral home.

We do not pay for funeral services, graveside services, memorial services, embalming, transportation of remains, caskets, urns, etc.  There is a flat fee paid for either cremation or burial.  Please contact the Commissioners' Office to obtain the fee information.

What if I can’t come to Teen Clinic during Teen Clinic hours?

Medicare Benefits Counseling & Assistance

State Health Insurance Program (SHIP)
Assistance with Medicare/Medicaid and supplemental insurance. We help with finding the best Part D (prescription) plan to meet your needs.

Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP)
This is a project that recruits volunteers to learn about the Medicare system and teaches beneficiaries how to read their insurance statements. This program is meant to help fight fraud, waste, and abuse in the insurance field.

Plant Identification

In-office Identification – Anyone is welcome to bring a plant sample into our office for identification.  Please bring in a full-plant sample that includes roots, stem, leaves, and flowers.  In addition, you can bring in good-quality photos.

MSU Schutter Diagnostic Lab – If a plant cannot be identified in our office by our available staff we do have the ability to submit your sample to MSU for identification by mail at no cost to you.  In addition, anyone can submit a plant sample on their own. Check out this video.

Budget

The FY 2023 budget is projecting $118.5 million in revenue and a total of $115.6 million in expenditures, including a 2.5% cost of living adjustment for 551.74 full-time employees.  The county continues to strive to plan for future capital needs by saving within our capital funds, budgeting $13.4 million in capital expenditures and $7.6 million in transfers to fund future capital needs.

Alive at 25

Preventing death among teen drivers and young adults is the mission of Alive at 25. This highly interactive course encourages drivers between the ages of 14 and 24 to take responsibility for their own driving behavior.

Alive at 25 was adopted by Montana in January 2009. The program has proven effective at reducing young driver crashes, injuries, and fatalities.
