Subject: Wood Products Infrastructure Assistance Grant Application - Support

Ms. Kies,

The Flathead County Board of Commissioners wholeheartedly supports Stillwater Post and Pole LLC's grant application for the Wood Products Infrastructure Assistance program.  Stillwater Post and Pole LLC plays a crucial role in creating employment opportunities in Olney, a small rural community within our county that urgently needs sustained economic growth.  Additionally, the company provides landowners with a vital outlet for timber harvested from their properties. Maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure for the forest products industry in our region is of utmost importance, as it directly supports more efficient and comprehensive management of both National Forests and privately-owned timberlands within Flathead County.

This grant is essential for the processing and utilization of small-diameter trees harvested from U.S. Forest Service lands. In a county that face frequent threats from forest fires, we are please to note that this grant prioritizes areas classified as high fire risk or those significantly impacted by insect infestation and disease.  By supporting this grant, we contribute to the safety and ecological well-being of our county.

Sincerely,

BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
FLATHEAD COUNTY, MOTNANA
