From the Office of Flathead County Clerk & Recorder and Election Administrator Debbie Pierson: Petition to Annul 2023 Kalispell Municipal Election
On behalf of Flathead County Clerk & Recorder and Election Administrator Debbie Pierson, the Flathead County Attorney's Office has filed a petition with the District Court to annul the 2023 Kalispell Municipal Election held on November 7, 2023. The petition asks the Court for an Order to nullify the November election and conduct a new City Council election for the four Kalispell wards. Ballots for the new election will be distributed according to district ward boundaries approved by the Kalispell City Council in December 2021.
Pierson states, “Integrity throughout every step of the election process is paramount. To this degree, I feel it is essential that the election is redone, and ballots are issued according to current ward boundaries. It is vitally important that the public is confident that fair, accurate, and transparent elections are being conducted in Flathead County.”
If the annulment is approved in the District Court, a future election date will be determined. Updated information will be posted on the Flathead County Elections webpage.
