County Commissioners Disappointed with Montana State Supreme Court's Ruling

The Flathead County Board of Commissioners expresses disappointment in the Montana State Supreme Court's ruling against Flathead and 48 other Montana counties striving to alleviate the tax burden on local citizens. Flathead County is actively collaborating with MACo to determine the optimal method for complying with the State mandate to impose the 95 mills, and collect an additional $8.5 million in taxes, with these funds being directed to the Montana State general fund.

The Flathead County Board of Commissioners remains unwavering in their commitment to "Hold-the-Line," as demonstrated in our FY24 budget approved in August. For FY24, Flathead County will manage and deliver county services within a budget of $115.8 million, representing a 2.11% reduction from FY23.
