It Only Takes a Spark

REMINDER: Flathead County is still under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions.

Stage 2 rules prohibit campfires and smoking except within a vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area clear of flammable material. No off-road driving is permitted. Operating an internal combustion engine, welding, or using explosives is prohibited between 1 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Further clarification: This means lawnmowers and weed eaters (unless grass has been irrigated and is green); gas chainsaws or ANYTHING that can cause a spark. Watch your vehicles as trailer chains can drag on the ground, or severely worn brake pads can spark a wildfire. Do not park on or drive over dry vegetation. No fireworks.

If you see someone not following the rules, talk with them as they might not be aware of the restrictions. If they continue to disregard these rules, contact your city/town police department. DO NOT CALL 911 unless a fire has started.
