Sewage and Septic Alerts

As of 4/18/23, our procedure will be to require a Land Research Request form first before any portion of the septic application process occurs. A staff member will make contact with the applicant either via phone or email to discuss the findings of the research based on the information provided in the Land Research Request Form. If the applicant desires a more comprehensive consultation than the initial phone call or email, you will be advised to make an appointment with the staff member.

What We Do

Sewage is a potential source of groundwater contamination. Improper treatment of this sewage can contaminate drinking water over time, posing a public health hazard.

The mission of the sewage and septic program is to reduce the incidence of contamination of high-quality state waters through education and enforcement of safe practices. This is accomplished through environmental analysis and permitting of septic systems and investigating violations and complaints.
