Logan Health, with the assistance of Flathead County Office of Emergency Services recently organized a comprehensive training drill, bringing together multiple emergency response agencies and volunteers from across the Flathead region.
On Saturday, September 28, approximately 140 combined participants and volunteers gathered at the Fairgrounds for a Mass Casualty Incident training drill. Volunteer Patient Actors arrived as early as 6:30 AM to check in and sit for moulage, where they were outfitted with artificial injuries and simulated wounds to enhance the realism of the exercise.
A diverse array of emergency response agencies participated in this simulated disaster scenario, including Flathead County Search and Rescue, Flathead County Office of Emergency Services, Sheriff’s Posse, Mountain Climber, Glacier Park International Airport Fire, Logan Health EMS, West Valley Fire, Whitefish Fire, Evergreen Fire, ALERT, Columbia Falls Fire, Blankenship Fire, MSU Fire Service Training School, and Lakeside Quick Response Unit.
The drill, featuring fire engines and ambulances, ran smoothly until 12:30 PM, when the Rapid Relief Team generously provided lunch to all participants. Coordinating such a large-scale event, with so many different organizations involved, was no small feat and required remarkable collaboration across all entities.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the volunteers who dedicated their time and energy, playing an essential role in making this training exercise a success.
