The Board of Commissioners has taken a proactive step towards enhancing our roads and transportation system. On March 5, they signed a contract with the Montana Department of Transportation to allow our Roads and Bridge Department to salvage milled asphalt materials.
This initiative marks the continuation of a highly successful program that has been in operation since 2008. Through careful recommendations to the Board of Commissioners, viable roads for improvement and repair have been identified, paving the way for smoother and safer travel.
The project began with Holt Stage being the first of many roads to benefit from this approach. Other roads such as Trumble Creek, Hoffman Draw Road, Braig Road, West Valley Drive, Riverside Drive, Stillwater Road, and Danielson Road have also seen improvements. While the signing of this contract marks the beginning of a comprehensive process, we're optimistic about the significant benefits it will bring to our community.
During the signing, Commissioner Pamela Holmquist expressed gratitude, highlighting the importance of partnerships with various agencies. She remarked, “This is such a good example of all the great partnerships we have out there with different agencies, and I can’t say it enough, I thank all the agencies for this, and in this particular case, MDT for doing this for the county. It makes a big difference and I appreciate that.”
