Thank You Veterans!

We are blessed to have veterans, their spouses, and family members live and work in Flathead County. We thank you.

According to the US Department of Veterans Affairs, some veterans struggle to transition from the military to the public sector to find a career. A government job can be a great choice instead of jumping into Corporate America. Here are just a few of our veterans:

• Ricky – Fairgrounds. Ricky retired from the military after twenty-two years serving in both the United States Marine Corps and the National Guard. He served as diplomatic security to US missions and embassies, including as a senior guard at the Kabul USA Embassy in Afghanistan for over six years.

• Evan - Weed/Parks Maintenance Worker. Evan served in the US Army from 1987-1993. He was in the First Squadron, Second Armored Cavalry Regiment, and served in the Middle East during Operation Desert Storm. Evan has been a part of our team in Weed/Parks since March 2003.

• Robert – Information Technology. Robert was a part of the 672nd Engineering Company in Missoula. He helped build restrooms in California for a non-profit at a park, was a part of an operation in Belize building a school and clinics, and built firing ranges and fuel berms for the military in western Poland.

Flathead County has open positions that use many of the same skills learned in the military, and we are avid supporters of our veterans. If you, or someone you know, is a veteran entering the workforce from service, have them stop by our office, 800 S. Main Street, Kalispell. We would enjoy meeting with them and helping them with their transition. And if you're a veteran working for Flathead County, use the comments section below to tell us what you did in the service, and what you're doing now.

Thank you!
