The citizens of Flathead County voted against a County Building Department, therefore, no County Building Permits are required.
Please contact the City of Kalispell to see if you fall within the jurisdiction of the Kalispell Building Department (which does extend past the City Limits). Phone: (406) 758-7730

A completed application must be received at the Commissioners Office prior to burial or cremation and must meet indigent criteria.
Deceased must be a resident of Flathead County.
Please contact the Commissioners Office (phone: (406) 758-5503) or contact the funeral home for an indigent burial application. When submitting an application you must also submit the statement cost from the funeral home.
We do not pay for funeral services, graveside services, memorial services, embalming, transportation of remains, caskets, urns, etc. There is a flat fee paid for either cremation or burial. Contact the Commissioners Office to obtain more information.

"No Wake" Zones on lakes are approved by the Board of Commissioners, however, they are set up and enforced by the State of Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, 490 North Meridian, Kalispell, MT. Phone: (406) 752-5501
The County does not have authority to adopt a noise ordinance, due to Montana law. We suggest contacting your local police station for assistance.
Raffle permit forms can be downloaded here.
1. There is no fee.
2. Non-profit organizations are exempt from the raffle permit process.
3. The permit must be filled in and returned to the Commissioners Office for approval.
4. The second page of the permit must be filled in and returned to the Commissioners Office within 30 days of the raffle date.
