LOCATION: 4098 Highway 93 North, Kalispell
MISSION STATEMENT:
The Board of Directors and the employees of the Flathead County Solid Waste District provide environmentally sound and cost-effective refuse collection, disposal and recycling opportunities for Flathead County residents and businesses. Our facilities are a major part of the economic and environmental infrastructure of Flathead County. Long range planning and fiscal integrity ensures decades of capacity with minimal financial impacts to Flathead County citizens.
SOLID WASTE DATA
In FY12, 92,354 tons of refuse was landfilled. The primary components of the waste stream included mixed waste and construction debris. In FY12, 72,791 tons of mixed waste was landfilled, of which 47% was disposed of by commercial haulers, 11% by municipal haulers, 8% by private citizens and 34% was hauled by FCSW from the container sites.

Recycling boxes for cardboard, newspaper, tin & aluminum cans, plastic soda bottles and milk jugs are provided at the Landfill, Bigfork, Columbia Falls, Coram, Creston, Lakeside and West Corridor sites. Kalispell recycling locations include Albertson's, Flathead High School, Glacier High School, Kalispell Middle School, Army Navy (in Evergreen) and the Kalispell Super-1 store. To ensure quality, rinse cans, bottles and jugs. A dedicated cardboard compacting unit has been installed at the Columbia Falls container site. A magazine recycle box is located at the landfill.
Items accepted at the Landfill site include: Refuse, construction debris, appliances, used motor oil, batteries, brush and yard waste... as a service to County residences we also retrieve junk vehicles.
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION DAY
FCSWD holds a Household Hazardous Waste Collection day on the 3rd Saturday of every month. Click on Documents for a sign-up form or call for for more information.
JUNK VEHICLE RECYCLING PROGRAM
FCSWD offers free pick up and removal of Junk Vehicles within Flathead County. "If you own a vehicle that is unlicensed, inoperative, discarded, dismantled or wrecked ~ State law requires that you remove it from your property, or if you have three vehicles or less, conceal them from public view."
