LOCATION: 935 First Ave West, Kalispell - County Blue Building

Flathead County serves 9,210 elementary students in nineteen school districts. Each of the four cities has a high school accommodating a total of 4,301 students and one community college with approximate enrollment of 5,000 serves the region. School to Work concepts are understood and a group of students from all areas high schools and the college build a home annually as a real life experience. The Office of the County Superintendent of Schools has a working relationship with all these school districts, as well as a Cooperative for Curriculum and a Cooperative for Special Education. All have elected Boards of Trustees and most have local administrators. Students from this County score above the national average in all curricular areas. Many teachers in this County have won national honors. There are several Presidential Award Winners in Math and Science at both elementary and high school levels. Under the direction of a former president of the International Reading Association, many local teachers authored a reading series which is published by a nationally known textbook company. Because of the proximity to Glacier Park, Flathead Lake, and the Big Mountain and Blacktail Ski Area, Education, like the other professions in Flathead County, is able to attract highly talented individuals.
