Animal Shelter
LOCATION: 225 Cemetery Road, Kalispell
The Flathead County Animal Shelter, an open-admission shelter and adoption center, provides safe haven and humane care to homeless dogs and cats in Flathead County while they await permanent, loving homes.
Please don't breed or buy when you can opt to adopt and save a life! All animals at our shelter are sterilized prior to adoption. Please help end the cycle of pet overpopulation and have your pet spayed or neutered.
MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the Flathead County Animal Shelter to provide:
- A safe, healthy environment for abandoned and temporarily homeless dogs and cats until they can be placed in permanent caring homes.
- Education and outreach on effective methods for reducing pet overpopulation, including spay/neuter and the advantages of choosing a shelter pet over breeding or buying.
- Support to Flathead County Animal Control Officers in their efforts to enforce the county Animal Control Ordinance and protect public health and safety.

Adoption Fees
Dogs: $65 ($70 for residents of unincorporated Flathead County - includes one year dog license)
Cats: $45
All animals are spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
Dogs receive vaccinations against distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, parainfluenza and bordetella (kennel cough). They also receive a one-year rabies vaccine.
Cats receive vaccinations against rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia.
